 The Motoki Fujii Research Lab of Shizuoka University's Faculty of Education was awarded the grand prize for the second consecutive year by the selection committee held on November 15. This grand prize is for the January 17 Bousai Koshien, and it is awarded to schools or organizations that perform excellent disaster prevention education and activities. The award ceremony and announcement was held in Hyogo Prefecture on January 8, 2017, at which time they publicized the activities of the Fujii Research Lab.
        
 This research lab continues its efforts in providing disaster prevention education in cooperation with schools and the community. This year, it produced a disaster prevention picture book based on the theme of wind and flood disasters, developed lesson plans to increase decision-making and action capability during disasters, while providing educational material to schools within Shizuoka Prefecture, Iwate Prefecture, and Aichi Prefecture. This was the fourth time it received the January 17 Bousai Koshien award.
