Collaborative Lesson with E.A.S. Hamamatsu

On 16th October 2024, 18 third-year high school students and two teachers from the Brazilian school E.A.S. Hamamatsu visited the Hamamatsu Campus. They participated in a collaborative lesson as part of the ‘Advanced English B’ class, taught by Yuki Yasutomi, a lecturer at the University’s Education Development Centre.

This initiative aims to foster understanding within Hamamatsu’s multicultural community by bringing together students from diverse educational backgrounds—high school and university, Brazilian school and Japanese school—to connect through communication in English.
Around 60 students from Shizuoka University (across two classes) took part in the exchange, engaging in small group discussions with EAS Hamamatsu students. They explored topics of mutual interest, as well as each other's cultures and education systems.
These activities provided students with a chance to enhance their practical English skills while also offering a valuable learning experience, exposing them to perspectives from different cultural backgrounds.
