News

On October 24, 2025, Shizuoka University welcomed 39 students and one faculty member from Indian universities and graduate schools to its Hamamatsu Campus as part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) program, “MIRAI-Setu: New People-to-People Exchanges to Create the Future of Japan and India”

The visit aimed to introduce the distinctive features of Shizuoka University’s research and education. Representatives from the Graduate School of Science and Technology (Dept. of Engineering and Informatics) and the Doctoral Graduate School presented an overview of the university’s graduate programs. Following the session, participants divided into groups to tour laboratories in fields such as aerospace, bioscience, robotics, and imaging devices, where they gained firsthand exposure to cutting-edge research.

Indian students currently studying at Shizuoka University took the lead in organizing the campus tour and informal discussions, providing opportunities for the visitors to ask questions about graduate studies and student life in Japan. Japanese students organized the exchange activities at the International Exchange Lounge, where the participants seemed to sincerely enjoy the lively intercultural exchange.

Shizuoka University has been selected for the FY2025 “Inter-University Exchange Project—University Exchange with Global South Countries” by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and is launching a new collaborative education program with partner universities in India.
The visit by these outstanding and motivated MIRAI-Setu students marked a significant first step toward building a stronger foundation for future educational and research collaboration between Japan and India.
