Announcement for Graduating students and their parents

News

the cancellation of Commencement Ceremony

The novel coronavirus infectious diseases are spreading in Japan. On February 25, 2020, "Basic Policy on the Novel Coronavirus Infectious Disease Control" and “The Concept of Holding Graduation Ceremonies and Entrance Ceremonies” (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) have been notified.

In Shizuoka prefecture, no infected persons have been identified at this time, but the expecting number of graduating students at Shizuoka and Hamamatsu campus is more than 1,000 each, so we decided not to hold the Shizuoka University commencement ceremony.

We sympathize with the graduation students and parents’ feeling but we made a tough decision to give primary consideration to the students’ health and safety under the difficult condition for the perfect infection control.

We appreciate your understanding.

28 February, 2020
ISHII Kiyoshi, President of Shizuoka University
