Regarding the Postponement of the Starting Date for First Semester Classes in 2020 (Notice)

Previously it was announced that classes for the spring semester of this year would start on Thursday, April 9th as originally planned. However, the current progression of the new coronavirus is growing at an explosive rate. Taking into consideration the possibility that this may turn into a large-scale outbreak and that we as a university need to consider how best to conduct our classes in a manner that reduces the risk of further infections, we would like to notify everyone that the starting date for the spring semester of this year will be postponed until Thursday, April 23, 2020.
The various programs and steps necessary for a smooth student life in a new academic year, such as guidance, medical examinations, and course registration, will be carried out. These will be implemented sequentially while minimizing risks.
Some items remain scheduled at their originally scheduled date (i.e., the medical examinations), though other items are scheduled for a new date (i.e., guidance and course registration). Please be careful to double-check the correct times.
Unnecessary and non-urgent outings as well as extensive travel over large areas increase the risk of infection. Please be cautious about how you conduct your daily life before (and after) the beginning of classes.
Please be sure to check the latest information made available at the university's official website as there may be further changes, depending upon the future progression of the new coronavirus.

If you have a fever, a cough, or other symptoms of a cold, do not overdo it and do not attend the university. Instead, rest at home and contact your faculty or relevant department.
