Exemption from Tuition and Other Fees

About tuition fee exemption

*Undergraduate students (self-supported international students) who enrolled in 2020 or later are not eligible for tuition fee exemption.
The students can apply under the following conditions;
when the person who supports the tuition fee dies or the student himself / herself suffers from a disaster such as windstorm, flood, and fire damage.

Under the following conditions and subject to review, individuals applying for exemption from tuition fees may have half or all of their obligation waived.

  • If the student faces difficulties paying tuition fees due to economic reasons, and has demonstrated good academic performance
  • If, six months or less prior to the payment deadline (for spring tuition for newly enrolled students, one year or less prior to enrollment), the student's source of tuition support has deceased, or if the student or the student's source of tuition support has suffered the effects of a disaster including windstorm, flood, or fire

To apply for exemption, the required application, including any required certificates or other documents, must be submitted by the specified date to the Student Life and Career Planning Support Team, or to the Student Affairs Desk, Student Affairs Office of the applicant's faculty. Furthermore, applicants capable of demonstrating other special circumstances commensurate with those listed above may be eligible for deferred payment, including deadline extensions or monthly payment arrangements.

About enrollment fee exemption

If either of the following conditions apply, subject to review, individuals applying for exemption from the enrollment fee may have half or all of their obligation waived.

Undergraduate students

Condition 1
(Death)
If payment of the fee is exceptionally difficult due to the death of the student's primary source of tuition support one year or less prior to enrollment
Condition 2
(Disaster)
If, one year or less prior to enrollment, the student or the student's primary source of tuition support has suffered the effects of a disaster including windstorm, flood, or fire, or has been involved in a traffic accident, making payment of the enrollment fee exceptionally difficult

Graduate students

Condition 1 If the student faces difficulties paying tuition fees due to economic reasons, and has demonstrated good academic performance
Condition 2 If, one year or less prior to enrollment, the student's source of tuition support has deceased or has suffered the effects of a disaster including windstorm, flood, or fire
